How does electric fencing work?

An energiser sends short pulses of high voltage along the fence wires. When someone touches the fence, they receive a sharp but non-lethal shock that acts as a powerful deterrent.

Is electric fencing safe for children and pets?

Yes. The shock is designed to be a deterrent, not to cause harm. The pulse duration is extremely short. However, proper warning signs must be displayed as required by law.

Do I need a certificate of compliance?

Yes. South African law requires an Electric Fence System Certificate of Compliance for all electric fence installations. LIVE WIRE provides this with every installation.

What happens during a power outage?

Our energisers include a 6-8 hour battery backup, so your fence continues to operate during load shedding or power failures.

How much does electric fencing cost?

Costs vary depending on the size of your property and type of installation required. Contact us for a free, no-obligation quote.

Do you offer repairs and maintenance?

Yes. We offer repairs, maintenance and upgrades to existing electric fence installations throughout the Cape Town and Western Cape area.
